St.Petersburg: mix of historical sights and present-day life
Most of tourists, coming to St.Petersburg, see St.Petersburg only from tourist bus windows. But St.Petersburg is a truly unique city, where in the most tourist areas, next to the famous museums, palaces and churches, you can see everyday life of St.Petersburg citizens. Sometimes it's difficult, without knowing Russian, to tell, whether you are looking at a palace, or a hospital, or a museum or a library or a school:
Here we offer you something different: experience everyday life of this amazing city, accompanied by a local tour guide, who will explain you traditions, details and everyday life routine, answer your questions on Russian character, mentality and usual way of life.
You will understand, what it feels like - living next to St.Isaac's, going to school on Nevsky, studying at the University at the Spit of Vassilievsky Island, taking your kids to the playground next to the Bronze Horseman.
You will be able to actually mix with locals, walking the same streets as they walk their kids, dogs, hurry to work, etc. You will walk through the famous courtyards (called "wells") in the old residential areas, take a metro ride and see what modern residential areas look like. You'll visit small corner shops, supermarkets and farmers' markets where locals shop (and if you would like - you'll be able to buy Russian vodka and chocolate at local prices - feel free to use the opportunity). You'll be able to see what our schools, hospitals, libraries and universities look like.

Our 'Citizen's Walk' takes about 6 hours altogether, and includes the following:
- metro ride (an introduction to the world's deepest underground/subway system, visiting most beautiful St.Petersburg metro stations);
- visit to a local farmers' market (here you'll be able to sample-taste some of our most famous traditional products, such as pickles, honey, dairy products, etc.);
- visit to a local Russian Orthodox church in operation;
- walk along one of St.Petersburg pedestrian streets, seeing some 'minor' local monuments (stories behind them);

- visit to a local post office;
- one of our art galleries or a souvenir market - stories about most popular Russian souvenirs and traditions connected with them
